Rizin FF put on their second major MMA event a few hours ago at Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The card was headlined by the 65kg superfight between Kron Gracie and Hideo Tokoro. And what an action-packed fight it was!
Tokoro-san is a fan favorite in Japan with a professional career of 60+ fights including classics against Royler Gracie and Royce Gracie, who are Kron's uncles. Tokoro is also the poster boy for our partners Reversal RVDDW and an old friend of ChokeSports.
This was only Kron's third professional MMA fight and he showed he can keep his cool even when Tokoro managed to escape the back position and get back on top. If you have followed Kron's Jiu-Jitsu career then you know he rarely misses a good position, so it was really nice to see his calmness and confidence.
This was a bittersweet moment for us here at ChokeSports because we also have a very strong connection with Kron's father, the one and only Rickson Gracie. Our founder JP-san has Master Rickson as one of his strongest sources of inspiration on and off the mats.
So even though it was hard to see one of these fighters lose tonight, we still feel like both Kron and Tokoro put on a very exciting match where they did not hold back at all and elevated their names even higher. We're already looking forward to their next performance. Hopefully at Rizin's New Year's MMA event on Dec.29!
